The experience was very good. The tour guide was very responsible. There were not many people in the scenic area. I had a good meal of Kawasaki cuisine. It was a perfect day.

This day trip was our favorite part of Kyoto! We were able to see the countryside of Japan and were in awe. You wouldn’t be able to visit these spots without a car so it’s a great way to get around. Nick Lee is a great guide and shared some insight into Japan and gave us awesome recs. 100% need to add this to your itinerary!

Absolutely unforgettable! Making a kunai with a master swordsmith in Kyoto is one of the coolest, most hands-on cultural experiences you can have in Japan. From heating the steel in a blazing forge to hammering and shaping it with your own hands, every step feels like stepping into a ninja legend. The atmosphere is rich with history—often set in a traditional Kyoto townhouse—and the craftsmanship is top-tier. You even get to personalize your kunai and try throwing it like a real ninja! It’s thrilling, authentic, and an epic memory to take home. Don’t miss this!

So glad I booked this trip, was a small group of 4 so nice and quiet. The stops were remote, so getting there wouldn’t have been easy on public transport. NickLee our driver was polite, spoke perfect English and ensured we were in the right place at the right time, I couldn’t have asked for a better tour driver. With most of the stops being in the middle of the countryside it was complex getting there, sometimes down tiny roads, NickLees driving was impeccable. It was raining hard in the afternoon and he even ensured we all had umbrellas. I can’t recommend this trip enough, even the views en-route were stunning. The stops even more so. Sanzen-In buddist temple is not to be missed, with it’s ethereal moss garden and calming atmosphere. Kifune is amazing and Arashyama didn’t disappoint. if you’re thinking about booking this trip, do it.

There are two routes, one for visiting Kurama-dera Temple and the other for visiting Enryaku-ji Temple. Great hiking trail. It was drizzling, so I only climbed Mt. Kurama and would attack Mt. Biyu next time.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Kyoto. It was a fun learning experience, and you got to use a real-life sword. Taka was a great instructor; he kept the entire group engaged. I would definitely recommend this activity. You get the history of the samurai and learn some kendo.

The photos you see are the ones taken along the actual bus route. You can get on the bus whenever you want and there are always seats available. You can go to all the famous attractions in Kyoto without having to worry about transportation or doing research. I recommend this itinerary to all travelers coming to Kyoto. It's very cost-effective!
